Simply Rustic Wedding Reception

This wedding reception was an intimate celebration with close family and friends and was held in the backyard of the bride and groom's home - it was a perfect combination of simplicity and rustic elegance.

Preparations for the evening reception included hanging mismatched framed
photos of the bride and groom as children and family wedding photos

Stepping stones display the wedding date and make
a nice keepsake for the bride and groom

A mix of vintage candelabras, silver and glass added to the overall
character of this lovely wedding reception

A Pretty in Pink... and Blue and Green Baby Shower

My friend Kristy (who's wedding can be seen here) welcomed a baby girl last month.  Her shower was so much fun to put together... there was lots of pink but some blue, green and yellow too! The shower was held on a Sunday afternoon so instead of traditional appetizers, her shower featured lots and lots of sweets... what better way to welcome a "sweet" new baby to the world!

Sweets Table! I love the pendents made with twine and pieces of fabric

Pink Food! Pink Chocolate Drizzled Popcorn, Cookie Cups with Pink Icing,
Dipped Pretzels and Strawberry Cupcakes

"Cupcake" Tree made with onesies and displayed in cupcake liners, flowers in tin cans
spray painted in a light blue and Chalkboard made from an inexpensive picture frame
spray painted with chalkboard paint and painted the same shade of blue

Another DIY Chalkboard... love this quote for baby!

"Kaitlyn" banner greeted guests as they arrived and now hangs in her nursery

Candy Bar - who wouldn't love all these treats?

Luau Bridal Shower

My friend Kristy's bridal shower luau was a casual get together with lots of fun, bright accents.  The color scheme of pink, green, orange and blue made for a festive get-together!

The invite set the tone for casual fun

 Centerpiece on food table.
Kristy LOVES little pigs so this guy had to be included- he wasn't roasted though!

The Bride's tropical inspired space for opening gifts

Dessert table included brightly topped cupcakes and yummy truffles

50's Diner Theme 60th Birthday Party

My Dad is a child of the 1950's and has a strong connection to that era.  For his 60th Birthday, we celebrated with a Surprise 50's Diner Theme Birthday Party. The party was hosted at a place known locally as "The Hawksbill".  It's been around for years and has a ton of character all on it's own.

The "Diner" counter was open to guests all night where they
could order burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese and fries
Close up of donuts in retro glass cake stand

Mini Jukebox and vintage Rock-n-Roll
sign completed the diner atmosphere
A slideshow played throughout the night with this
cutout made to look like a car at a drive-in. The figures
in the car were traced from an actual photo of my parents-
yes my Dad used to sit and stare at my Mom like that!

Classic cars parked around the entrance to the party greeted
the guest of honor when he arrived.

Teal and Red 30th Birthday Celebration

My friend is quite the fan of "Tiffany" blue ( and anything that comes in that little blue box) so her 30th Birthday incorporated teal, and as an accent color, red. The event was held at Blue5 Restaurant in Roanoke, VA.  The space itself provided a nice backdrop for the teal and red embellishments, setting off the existing decor and retro charm of the room perfectly.

Photos of the birthday girl were hung with ribbon
from exposed pipes around the room

For a twist on the old standard, we opted for these
yummy donuts from Blue Collar Joe's in Daleville, VA
I love tea lights and these lining the foyer table were the
first hint of what was to come for the birthday girl
What better way to celebrate a birthday
than to display photos of good times with family and friends?
These photos are mounted on scalloped edge borders of teal and red scrapbook paper
